We have identified three main jobs for dry felting, and have three needles to serve them!
Size 38 is our workhorse, go-to needle. It is carbon steel and this needle does 98% of everything we’ve ever needed to do with a felting needle. We use them one at a time, doubled, or tripled and beyond in tools that hold multiple needles. This needle is engineered to match the diameter of each fiber in the wool used in our palette.
Size 38 also works with with most of the breeds of wool that we using in our best selling breed specific sheep: Shetland, Gotland, Teeswater, and Jacob.
Size 40 is stainless steel needle, and is a finer guage needle suitable for details like eyes, lips and wisps of color on faces, or when using super fine fibers like merino, silk, cashmere or alpaca. Size 40 is a shorter length than size 38.
Reverse Barb is a fine, stainless steel needle, engineered to do just what it’s name says it does: it pulls fiber OUT rather than pushing it IN. Why would anyone want that?
Because it is terrific fun to layer up colors with your 38 and then pull out hidden tendrils of another color for eyelashes, antennae, or anywhere you’d like a delicate touch of wispy expression!

Yes, there are several styles of felting needles on the market! Our needles are for felting our wool.
We sell three styles of top quality needles. Our needles get a particular job done brilliantly, dull less easily, and meet our need to get great, efficient, effective results with the fibers we sell.
We don’t upsell you on building a collection of needles, or more than what we trust you’ll need.
We sell with a purpose, a focus and a curatorial decision grounded in three decades of experience. Discernment is part of practicing zero waste, too!

From natural hues for making animal characters to a robust rainbow for any design you have in mind, this fiber works up quickly due to its short and woolly character. It requires far less "poking" with your needle for a desired form to come together, and it loves to bind to itself.
This fiber is not suitable for hand spinning, unless the spinner is creating a designer yarn from long staple, single-ply yarn or 2-ply yarn.
